How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Omeo Primary School is committed to nurturing students to achieve their full potential in an ever changing world.

On My Feet

On My Feet is dedicated to helping people experiencing, or vulnerable to homelessness, transform their lives by providing a unique hand-up comprising exercise, community & education. We collaborate with shelters, who help us “recruit” participants. Participants can choose to join morning walks with free coffee/chats afterward, and structured training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. They receive our T-shirt & socks, & gain access to a network of caring, friendly volunteers. Participants experience improvements in their physical and mental health & build strong connections with the community & one another. These connections are significant determinants of well-being. Participants are entered into running/walking events to build their confidence We offer mentorship, as well as learning opportunities i.e. a regular schedule of workshops on topics such as resilience, nutrition, stress management & sleep. We work closely with employment agencies to help participants find work.

Oncology Massage Limited (OML) is a not for profit training organisation, teaching previously qualified Tactile Therapists how to work safely and effectively with any person in frail health, especially those with a history or diagnosis of cancer.

One Meal - It Makes a Difference

One Meal – It Makes a Difference is a 100% volunteer, Sydney based not for profit community organisation that helps to feed, clothe and support the homeless and underprivileged.
Our mission is to provide nutritious meals and a range of human services to the homeless, destitute, impoverished and underprivileged people in our community and to assist in advancing their well-being, outlook on life and prospects for future independence – and to do so with strong ethics and integrity.
We run weekly meal services in Blacktown, Cronulla, Darlinghurst, Engadine, Kingsgrove, Manly, Miranda, Narraweena, Riverwood, Surry Hills and Sutherland.
In addition to our meal services, our Community Co-op hamper programs operating in Sutherland Shire, at Blacktown and on the Northern Beaches provide thousands of meals (fresh produce, prepared meals and non-perishables) each week to families and individuals in need.

ONE80TC exits to rescue lives of young men and women from the devastating effects of drug & alcohol addiction, to restore hope and to rebuild families (our Mission).

ONE80TC is a holistic program that teaches much more than addiction recovery. We offer support and training in families, community service and employment pathways, and we provide access to GP, Psychologist and Psychiatrist (as required).

Run over 12 months the residential rehabilitation program is run as a therapeutic community and includes the following stages: Assessment and Intake, Transition (Group therapy), 5 Stages which include 12 steps plus individual tailored content, CBT & DBT therapies, Family Support worker, Caseworker (1-8 ratio), Medical GP, Clinical Psychologist, Graduation, Aftercare and Internship.

Open Doors Youth Service Inc.

Open Doors Youth Service provides support to young people with diverse genders, sex and sexualities.
They support young people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Asexual, Pansexual, Sistergirl or Brotherboy (LGBTIQAP+ Sistergirl & Brotherboy) aged 12-24 across South East Queensland.
They are based in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane but provide outreach in varying capacities.
They are Queensland’s leading LGBTIQAP+ youth homelessness service, working with young people who are at risk of/are disengaging with community and are at risk of/are experiencing homelessness. They aim to support and stabilise living situations and provide early intervention to support finding a safe living arrangement. This may include finding accommodation short/long term, supporting in providing mediation with parents, schools and other family members as well as advocacy and providing referrals and links to safe and supportive services.

Open Haven is a registered charity that provides a safe and confidential place for women who are survivors of domestic violence abuse.

We provide emotional and practical support, as well as help women to understand, navigate, and access all available professional services by tailoring a plan to suit their specific need.

Open Minds - Sunshine Coast

The Open Minds hub in Maroochydore is home to 3 different mental health programs:
Coastal Supports - The Open Minds Coastal Supports program is a CPS (Commonwealth Psychosocial Support) initiative and provides group and one-on-one community-based supports to people living with severe mental illness to achieve their recovery goals.

The Way Back Program - The Way Back provides practical support for
people after a suicide attempt for up to three months after they leave hospital. It addresses a significant gap in the current service system and eases this distress by guiding them towards the right support and informing them about how to stay safe.

Clinical Care Coordination team - offering clinical support for people experiencing severe and complex mental health issues.

Domestic and family violence

If your life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000 for emergency assistance.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

 

Homelessness

If you’re experiencing or at risk of homelessness, you can find homeless shelters near you by searching on the Ask Izzy website.

Your state or territory government can also help. Listed below are the options by state or territory.

 

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in daanger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

For First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

For people living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

For refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

For people struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.

Alternatively, Alcohol & Drug Counselling Online offers 24/7 online chat counselling.
