GIVIT helps thousands of Australians in need every year by providing items, services and vouchers. GIVIT helps people impacted by natural disasters, domestic and family violence or homelessness, First Nations Australians, people living with disability or mental ill-health, and much more.

How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Oz Assist Inc

Oz Assist is a volunteer organization that provides support for residents of the local community, by assisting the disadvantaged, individuals, and families. In doing so we distribute food parcels/ food cards, petrol vouchers for medical and other transportation, utilities, back to school and new student’s needs, direct advocacy when required.

Oz Assist in its Advocacy works with Individuals or Families in "paving out pathways", this assists them to live their lives as normal as possible. The clientele we deal with, most have long-term problems dealing with all aspects of life which stops them from becoming productive members of society. We walk the journey with them and assist them when they have problems dealing with Government, State, and Local departments, Businesses, Banks, Family issues, and any other problem which cause them not to be able to function as well as they should.One of the main differences that Oz Assist has, is that it is different from other local charities.

Ozcare Booval

Assistent Coordinator for Ozcare's HACC Homeless Outreach Program in Booval QLD; offering assistance for the homeless,or those at risk of homelessness.

Ozharvest - Refettorio

Ozharvest rescues and redistributes food. We also educate on minimising food waste. The refettorio restaurant offers a free lunch to anyone in need in the community.

Ozharvest - Sapphire Coast North Chapter

We provide food relief hampers to the homeless and vulnerable in the Eurobodalla and Bega Shires. Also assist with camping equipment and social support network advocacy.

OzHarvest is Australias leading food rescue organization. OzHarvest rescues food and feeds it to people in need and stops it from going to landfill. OzHarvest in the NT also purchases food and hires a truck from Darwin and does a weekly delivery to all the remote indigenous communities in Kakadu.

Parent to Parent QLD

Parent to Parent believes people are supported best by other who have similar life experiences. We delivery a quality service to people who have a disability by listening, respecting & supporting their goals. We are active in the NDIS space providing much needed Plan Management and Support Coordination as a not for profit organisation. Support Coordinators are working with some of the most vulnerable and complex people in our community. With support we aim to support NDIS participants to actively live good quality lives.

Parentline ACT Inc.

We aim to enhance parenting in our community. Our mission is to provide free, accessible and confidential support to the parenting community. To promote positive parenting and caring practices and to improve and enhance the lives and development of children and young people. We provide telephone and face to face counselling and online support. We aim to build on the existing strengths of parents, grandparents and carers. We have provided these services to communities in Canberra and surrounding region for nearly 40 years.

Parkerville Children and Youth Care Inc - Midland

Provides safe and affordable short to medium term accommodation for young women 15-25 years
who are homeless at imminent risk of homeless or who need transitional support in becoming independent.

Parkerville Community Care Inc.

Parky Care is a public benevolent institution whose aim is to relieve poverty and distress within the wider Shire of Mundaring and eastern City of Swan community in which it operates. We provide and/or facilitate a number programmes, notably The Village for mothers struggling with the journey through motherhood, parenting programmes (in conjunction with Midvale Hub Parenting Service) and the Wooroloo Community Resilience project. The latter is focused on building community resilience on the back of the February 21 and January 22 bushfires through facilitating fuel load reduction on public and private land.

We have a radius of 150km and service a shire population of over 15,000 people over 5,958 km².
We are in partnership with Parkes Coles and Second Bite where we pick up bread, fruit and vegetables to make them available to the community at no charge.

Patience Community Services

If you need assistance to find accommodation or employment, feeling isolated or has just arrived in Australia and need advice, and then we can help. We endeavour to find solutions that address each individual’s unique needs, assisting a wide range of people to join their local community and to get back on track. Paynesville Neighbourhood Centre

We are a Neighbourhood House, servicing all community members in Paynesville and surrounding areas. We offer support and referral services, community activities and social programs, and give locals a "safe place" to come and have a cuppa or attend activities. We also have a childcare service, and run Playgroup.

Domestic and family violence

If your life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000 for emergency assistance.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

 

Homelessness

If you’re experiencing or at risk of homelessness, you can find homeless shelters near you by searching on the Ask Izzy website.

Your state or territory government can also help. Listed below are the options by state or territory.

 

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in daanger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

For First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

For people living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

For refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

For people struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.

Alternatively, Alcohol & Drug Counselling Online offers 24/7 online chat counselling.
