How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Illawarra Women's Health Centre

The Centre provides safe, accessible, appropriate and specialised health and wellbeing services to all women in the Illawarra at little or no cost.

Immigrant Women's Support Service

The Immigrant Women's Support Service provided domestic and/or sexual violence support services to a total of 767 women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds for the 2018-2019 financial year. In addition, a total of 207 individuals were assisted with emergency relief to alleviate financial distress.

Impact Care Food Services Co-op

The Food Co-op was formed by Impact Church and is run by volunteers of the local community wanting to make a difference and help those in need by providing free and affordable groceries. We also provide meals to those that are sick or unable to cook due to sickness, new baby etc.

Impact Recovery Ltd

Impact Recovery is the only long term supervised residential drug and alcohol recovery service located in Bendigo, providing the opportunity for change and hope for men and women 18+.

Through our services, we seek to support those who are at risk homeless, treat alcohol and other drug misuse, problem gambling issues, mental health issues and other life controlling issues.

In Good Faith Foundation

In Good Faith Foundation has provided leading case management and advocacy services to Survivors, families and communities impacted by institutional abuses for over twenty years. Our services also include research and community education, information forums, community development and survivor support through the Melbourne Victims’ Collective. Our small, dedicated team of staff and volunteers co-ordinate warm referrals for mental health care, legal representation, police liaison, social welfare and pastoral support. We also provide expert consultation, policy and practice development to improving outcomes for Survivors.

Inala Community House - Community Settlement Service

community settlement service is funded by department of immigration and citizenship through settlement grants program, settlement support is provided to eligible migrants from refugee background and humanitarian entrants within the first 5 years of Australia.

Inala Community House - Tertiary Family Support & Out of Home Care (ICH - TFS & OHC)

We provide support to families at risk of having their children taken away and who are reunifying with their children.

Inala Family Accommodation & Support Service Inc (IFASS)

IFASS is funded to provide temporary crisis supported accommodation to families at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Inala Flexible Learning Centre

The Inala Flexible Learning Centre provides flexible education options and life-skill programs to young people aged 12 – 18 who have become disenfranchised from mainstream education. These young people have experienced one or more significant and complex educational, social and developmental issues.

Inala Indigenous Health Centre Of Excellence

We are an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary health care service that assists families with food security and escaping domestic violence, We are Government funded but only for our clinical services we don’t receive funding for our community welfare services.

Inala Wangarra Inc.

Inala Wangarra is an Indigenous community-controlled organisation that provides quality sport, recreation, cultural, justice, employment, training and arts programs and events that strengthen the educational and business knowledge, skills and capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and enhance competiveness for employment, participation in social and cultural activities and economic and social enterprise development opportunities. Inala Wangarra is ideally situated within the south-west corridor between Brisbane-Logan-Ipswich on the traditional land of the Jagera people.

Inala Youth Care Community Inc

Inala Youth Care Community Inc is a non-profit welfare organisation providing support and assistance to young people up to the age of 25 yrs and their families. The organisation is committed to meeting the needs of “at risk” disadvantaged young people and their families by providing accommodation and housing options, school support and education awareness, crime prevention and community development, mediation and counselling, advocacy, referrals for other services and community information. Inala Youth Care Community Inc provides outreach within the Inala area at its new Youth Space. “The HUT” as it’s known to young people provides a “drop in” space for young people. Inala Youth Care Community Inc has been operating since 1986 and is well established within Inala and surrounding communities as one of the leading youth agencies.

INCH Housing Inc.


INCH Housing Inc. is an Incorporated Association which commenced in 1991 to provide safe, secure, accessible housing to families who are on low incomes on the North
side of Brisbane.

INCH provides housing solutions for people in need who are unable to access affordable or appropriate housing in the private housing market.

Inclusion Plus Family Support Inc

For over 35 years, Inclusion Plus Family Support Inc has been providing support to people with disabilities and their family's on the Sunshine Coast. We provide a wide range of services to our clients, including individual support either in the home, at centre-based activities or in the community. We also have a purpose built disability accessible house (Pandanus Guest House) where we can provide fully supported accommodation to people with disability for short or long stays.
Inclusion Plus also provide access to Vacation Care and After School Care programs for school age children, along with other group social activities to develop social and community inclusion skills. Our Strides programs are designed to offer various skill based activities like cooking, gardening, crafts and other life-skills to prepare older clients for the future and independent living.

Independent Community Living Australia Limited

We are a mental health organisation that provides support to people with mental health conditions and psychosocial disability. One of our programs is a transitional accommodation program in which we provide accommodation for up to 18 months for people with a mental health condition.

Indigo Junction Inc.

Formerly Swan Emergency Accommodation, Indigo Junction has been in operation for over 30 years. Whilst our core business is homelessness, we have programs including crisis accommodation for young people and young families as well as community transitional housing. Further to this we have a Strong Fathers' program for Aboriginal fathers and are a financial hub that offers financial counselling and emergency relief.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

 

Homelessness

If you’re experiencing or at risk of homelessness, you can find homeless shelters near you by searching on the Ask Izzy website.

Your state or territory government can also help. Listed below are the options by state or territory.

 

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in daanger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

For First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

For people living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

For refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

For people struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.

Alternatively, Alcohol & Drug Counselling Online offers 24/7 online chat counselling.
