GIVIT helps thousands of Australians in need every year by providing items, services and vouchers. GIVIT helps people impacted by natural disasters, domestic and family violence or homelessness, First Nations Australians, people living with disability or mental ill-health, and much more.

How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Communify QLD - Partners in Recovery

Communify continues to assist people across all of life's stages. Our neighbourhood centres bring people together for mutual support and offer information and services. Our aged and community care services support people to manage activities of daily life. We provide specialist nursing services, allied health support, community transport and respite care. We also provide specialist services to support people experiencing homelessness, family relationship and parenting issues, challenges associated with mental and physical disabilities, and addiction.

Communities@Work

For many who are unemployed, on low incomes or who have experienced a life changing event, it can be a real struggle to meet the cost of suitable clothing for the next job interview or to commence new employment. Our clothing program provides men and women in need with free clothing, shoes and accessories for job interviews, work experience or other special events.

Community Action for Better Living

Charitable work for the community in the inner west of Sydney. In particular we provide domestic violence services, meals on wheels and family support.

Community Action Inc.

Community Action is a not-for-profit (PBI) community organisation based in Gympie (Qld) with registered charity and deductible gift recipient (DGR) status. We are a registered community housing provider with a mission to provide housing and support services in response to the needs of our community.

Our services include community housing, support services and accommodation for young people, support services and accommodation for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, financial counselling and multicultural services.

Community and Cultural Connections Inc

CCCi provides social services to local residents who are aged, vulnerable, or have special and complex needs, or are suffering from social isolation, loneliness, financial and social disadvantage, cultural and language barriers or mental health issues, dementia or other poor health conditions.
We provided emergency & crisis relief to vulnerable people during the Covid-19 pandemic, including food and essential goods and food vouchers, bill assistance and other financial support, social connection and wellbeing support, digital connection, technical support and training
We also advocate on behalf of local multicultural communities to address their unmet needs and work together with those communities, other stakeholders and partners to foster inclusion and to strengthen social cohesion and community harmony.

Community Friends

Communitty Friends is a community based organization located in West End. We support homeless people, people at risk of being homeless and disadvantaged groups. We supply over a 1000 meals per fortnight: this includes frozen dinners, fresh fruit and vegetables and other staples such as bread. We also provide HUGE quantities of free clothing, blankets, shoes and crockery and cutlery.

Community GRO Inc is a Not for Profit organisation, providing a range of programs and services including social, emotional and education programs through our Upper Ross And Garbutt Community Centres as well as the greater Townsville region.
Community and Neighbourhood Centres are often the first point of contact for community members seeking assistance. The individuals and families we work with often have multiple and complex needs. To ensure best outcomes for our clients it is integral that we partner with other service organisations.

The Upper Ross and Garbutt are areas one of high unemployment, welfare dependency, low literacy and numeracy skills, drug and alcohol dependency, and domestic violence.

Community Housing Limited - QLD

Community Housing Ltd. provides a range of homelessness services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. CHL currently manages 1807 properties across Queensland. CHL provides long-term housing, transitional housing, specialised disability tenancy management, affordable housing, community managed studio units, Same House Different Landlord properties, a homelessness service and crisis accommodation programs on behalf of the Queensland government. The homelessness programs include Family Accommodation Support service, Communities Care, Good Hope Men’s Shelter. OUTREACH: Undertake regular welfare checks, ensuring clients remain connected and supported. Connect clients with appropriate support services as required (Mental Health, AOD, DV) Liaise with short term crisis accommodation providers/temporary accommodation settings, to maintain positive relationships and sustain community involvement. We offer emergency relief when we have it available and rely heavily on donations.

Community Information & Support Cranbourne provides crisis support services to the City of Casey (South). This includes emergency relief (vouchers for food, petrol, baby formula, nappies and prescription medications, swags, transport tickets, education support, flexible support options), as well as referrals, advocacy, counselling, financial counselling, case work. Our services are free and confidential, and our values are to inform, support and empower.

CISVic’s mission is to support our local Branches to deliver services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people. Such services aim to uphold the dignity of all, respond to community needs, alleviate the impact of poverty and promote social justice. Domestic and family violence

If your life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000 for emergency assistance.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

 

Homelessness

If you’re experiencing or at risk of homelessness, you can find homeless shelters near you by searching on the Ask Izzy website.

Your state or territory government can also help. Listed below are the options by state or territory.

 

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in daanger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

For First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

For people living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

For refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

For people struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.
