How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

The Crossing Land Education Trust

The Crossing is a Not-for-Profit, Environment Education Camp on the edge of farmland, river and forest near Bermagui NSW. It is a one class, permaculture designed sustainable camp built by thousands of volunteers over 21 years.

Mission: Developing Youth Leadership in Sustainable Design
Core Values: Community Contribution, Responsibility and Active Conservation

Camp facilities at The Crossing are unique and include a train carriage bunkhouse and solar passive straw and mud buildings, extensive productive gardens and off grid power and water systems.

Student’s experience sustainable design, habitat survey and Landcare while on programs. Students also harvest and cook from the organic gardens and participate in adventurous canoe, bike or bush walking journeys in the surrounding National Parks.

The Dementia Support Network of WA

We provide support to families of people living with dementia, providing counselling, specialist support, products for in home care and referral to other support systems.

The Developing Foundation Inc.

Development and brain injury support helping children and adults achieve their goals. Services include a fundraising program for families, the Baby Bridges program, Assessment and Development programs and the annual Riverwalk.

The Dish of St John's

We are The Dish, a local Christian organisation providing food, friendship and inclusive community to disadvantaged people in the Hornsby area.

Provide meals to up to 40 people two nights per week year-round.
Offer friendship from an accepting community.

The Family Planning Association Of Western Australia (Inc)

We provided counselling, sexual health clinics, sexual health and relationship health promotion and education to all Western Australians, in particular youth, CALD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, Sex Workers, other Community Services, Schools, Detention Centres and any others who came to us for their sexual health and relationship wellbeing.

The Flagstaff Group Ltd

The Flagstaff Group provides life skills and employment for people with a disability ensuring they can lead a positive and meaningful life, contributing to work and their community. As an NDIS trusted provider, Flagstaff offers a number of programs from literacy to cooking classes, learner driver training to employment preparation.

As an Australian Disability Enterprise, Flagstaff employes over 250 people with a disability in six different business units including a commercial laundry; Print, Digital and Mail; Paper to Paper recycling, Garden Maintenance, Engineering Services and Fine Foods frozen meals.

The Foster Share Shed Inc

The Foster Share Shed is a place where Foster Carers and children in care can get together with like-minded people, to discuss their care experiences and knowledge. It provides a safe and supportive environment and a platform to which children in care can meet and come together with other children in care.
The Foster Share Shed is a resource center receiving donations from the general public.
It is important that a child in care feels like they belong. Children typically come into care with nothing. They have no belongings, sense of security or ownership.
The Foster Share Shed provides a space for training, personal development, coffee mornings, children’s play dates, celebrations, targeted events and more.

The Foundry by SYC

The Foundry by SYC is our purpose-built youth wellbeing hub, where we create opportunities for young people to make sense of the world around them. We help young people realise their strengths, build a positive network of friendships and support, and gain the confidence to explore new pathways. Our open-access youth service model and dedicated youth engagement team empower young people to discover their passion, increase their wellbeing and connect with their communities. The majority of the young people who access our service have experienced housing insecurity and/or family breakdown.

The Gender Centre Inc

The Gender Centre is committed to developing and providing services and activities which enhance the ability of people with gender issues to make informed choices.

The Gender Centre is also committed to educating the public and providers about the needs of people with gender issues. We offer a wide range of services to people with gender issues, their partners, families and friends in New South Wales. For example, we provide a counselling service, a residential program, an exit-house program, case management, support groups, advocacy, outreach and many other forms of support. We also act as an education, support, training and referral / resource Centre to other Organizations and Service Providers. We specifically aim to provide a high quality service which acknowledges human rights and ensures respect and confidentiality.

The Generosity Collective Inc

The Generosity Collective is a newly established registered charity based in Mitcham Victoria and supports those facing hardship in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
With the support of our registered community, we curate Generosity Crisis Care Packs with people’s quality second hand and new items. We are building a mindful and generous community which allows us to bridge the gap between services currently provided for those in difficult circumstances. We partner with support agencies who assist individuals who may be fleeing domestic violence, in crisis accommodation, those who may be accessing residential and psychiatric support services, young mothers and baby programs and children in out of home care. We create individualised Generosity Crisis Packs which contain clothing and essential items for those individuals, then deliver them directly to our partner agencies, for them to distribute to their clients.

The Good Box

The Good Box is a non-for-profit social enterprise that creates beautifully packaged gift boxes for people experiencing homelessness in Australia. Our boxes are filled with new, high quality items and a handwritten note written by school students, volunteers and sponsors. As well as shipping these boxes Australia wide The Good Box facilitates engagement programs for schools and corporates with the aim to remove the stigma around homelessness, educate and connect.

The Hut Community Centre

We offer a range of support services, including emergency financial assistance, food pantry, no-interest loans and budgeting support.
Our services are diverse and focus on connecting with residents in our Hills community. Programs include formal and informal training and education, sharing of skills and interests, connecting with others and healthy living activities. Our reach covers the entire Hills region through our networks and partnerships which support our philosophy of working with others to support the Hills community.

The Isolated Children's Parents' Association of NSW (ICPA-NSW)

The Isolated Children's Parents' Association of NSW Inc. (ICPA-NSW) is a voluntary organisation whose roots are firmly embedded in rural and remote Australia. It was founded in 1971 in Bourke, NSW, and the mission then, as now, is "Access to Education".

Our issues focus on, but are not limited to transport, rural schools, distance education, communication, allowances, boarding schools and tertiary and training.

The Junction Community Centre Inc

The Junction Community Centre aims to create a welcoming, responsive, inclusive and supportive environment, working with the community to help it meet the needs of individuals, families and community groups in the local area. We offer a range of educational, recreational and social activities (collaborating with other NFPs, council) to decrease social isolation and improve community participation by maximizing opportunities and minimizing barriers. We work to recognise the needs of the community and tailor activities accordingly - be it by improving literacy, teaching life skills or delivering cross-cultural programs to improve understanding. Domestic and family violence

If your life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000 for emergency assistance.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

 

Homelessness

If you’re experiencing or at risk of homelessness, you can find homeless shelters near you by searching on the Ask Izzy website.

Your state or territory government can also help. Listed below are the options by state or territory.

 

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in daanger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

For First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

For people living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

For refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

For people struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.
