How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Catalyst Church Incorporated

Catalyst Church is a community focused organisation that provides care and support for people all across Ipswich. Because the Christian ethos is one of concern for the poor,
the church operates a free debt counselling service, Christmas party for underprivileged families,relationship counselling, youth work, disability services support, Mother's support groups, playgroups, Work for the dole programs and local school chaplaincy. During
the week our objective is providing a venue for those in our community to train, seek counselling and enjoy community with friends in a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Catholic Parish of Holy Spirit Bourke

The Bourke Catholic Parish services a large portion of the rural and remote area of far western NSW which includes a high indigenous population. Many of our parishioners and other community members suffer disadvantage due to isolation, high unemployment and low socio-economic challenges.

Catholic Social Services Australia

CSSA is the national organisation of catholic social serivce organisations across Australia. CSSA coordinates disaster recovery initiatives of the Catholic church and supports parishes and communities that are working for social justice with vulnerable and marginalised people.

CatholicCare - Alcohol & Other Drug Support Connections

AOD Support Connections is an outreach case management program that works in partnership with anyone over 16 who want to stop or reduce their use of alcohol and other drugs.

AOD Support Connections can assist clients to make changes in their life, help connect them with other health and community services, develop crisis and relapse prevention plans, or explore harm reduction strategies to help them become more in control and improve your health and wellbeing.

CatholicCare - ASSIST Program

ASSIST (Aiding in Secure, Safe, Independent and Stable Tenancies) is an outreach program for those who are homeless or at risk of being homeless who are over 18 years that can help you. ASSIST Case Managers provide individualised support, information, referral and advocacy to people who require help to sustain their tenancy or assistance to obtain or transition to independent and stable accommodation.

CatholicCare - Axial Housing First Program

A new program offering people in the ACT, with complex needs that include chronic homelessness a property that will include ongoing case management. The program is unfunded so there is limited scope to provide furniture and household goods.

CatholicCare - Hands On Studio

Founded in 1996, Hands On Studio has become a leader in the field of arts and disabilities in the Canberra region. The program has developed a model for a creative community guided by the principle that art is fundamental to human expression and that all people are entitled to its tools of communication. Over the years, the artists who attend the program on a weekly basis have collaborated with their peers as well as local and interstate artists to extend their practice, develop an individual style and foster a sense of community. The ages of the artists who attend the program range from 17-92, a very broad cohort with different life experiences and varying wants, needs, and desires which are supported at Hands On Studio.

CatholicCare - Reaching Out Program

The CatholicCare Reaching Out Program provides free alcohol and drug counselling to young people aged 13-18 years. Our Counselling sessions are provided through outreach, which means rather than having to come to us, we can meet you in a place where you feel most comfortable; be it your school, community centre, or work place.
Our counsellors understand that being lectured about Drugs and Alcohol is not necessarily what you need. The Reaching Out Program is an opportunity to talk with someone who is qualified to help you figure out what works best for you.
We also offer support for families and friends of people impacted by alcohol and other drugs.

CatholicCare - Reconnect Program

The program, which is funded by the Department of Social Services, uses community based interventions to assist young people aged 12-18 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and their families to help stabilise their living situation, achieve family reconciliation and improve their level of engagement with education, work and their local community. Reconnect Case Workers offer counselling, mediation, group programs and practical support to the whole family to break the cycle of homelessness. CatholicCare has been providing this vital program across Canberra and regional NSW (Young, Boorowa, Canowindra, Grenfell, Moloney, West Wyalong and surrounds) since 1996.

CatholicCare - Sandhurst

CatholicCare Sandhurst (CCS) is a not-for-profit organisation, providing counselling services and programs to individuals, couples, families and groups across the Victorian Loddon Mallee and Goulburn Murray regions. We are the official welfare agency of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Sandhurst. At CCS we deliver high quality family and relationship services that are available for all people. We acknowledge that people come to us with a wide range of faiths, cultures and personal beliefs. Hopefully everyone feels welcomed. We are a participating agency of CatholicCare Victoria Tasmania (CCVT) and a member of Catholic Social Services Victoria (CSSV) and Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA). CatholicCare - STEPS

CatholicCare and ACT Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) work in partnership to operate STEPS. The STEPS Program provides 24 hour residential support to young people aged 13 to 18 years who have moderate to severe mental illness. The program is a step up/step down model working within a case management framework to assist young people to identify recovery goals and work towards these with their CAMHS clinician and their other supports, including family. The program services young people from across the whole of the ACT.

CatholicCare - Sydney

Not For Profit Social services organisation which aims to address the unmet welfare needs of a broad cross-section of the community, touching many life stages from children, families and relationship services through to aged care services. We provide a 131819 CCareline number to assist people find the help they need connecting individuals or families to support wherever it is available.

CatholicCare - Wollongong

CatholicCare is the social services agency of the Catholic Diocese of Wollongong, covering the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Macarthur and Southern Highlands Regions. We work with the whole community, providing personal and family support throughout their lives.

Our services include: care to people who are ageing to remain in their home, NDIS support for people with a disability and their families; assisting children in Out of Home Care as well as families experiencing family breakdown, ensuring children remain safe and at the centre of parents concern; supporting people having family and relationship difficulties as well as parents and couples who require education and early intervention support to assist them in their marriage, relationships and parenting.

CatholicCare - Youth & Wellbeing Program

Youth & Wellbeing is an outreach mental health service for young people in the ACT. Our Youth Outreach Workers can come to you and meet in a place where you feel most comfortable; be it your home, your community, your school or work.

The program supports you to look at your mental health and how it affects all different parts of your life, such as: relationships, school/work, housing, family life, coping and self-esteem. They provide therapeutic support and help to develop skills to better manage your mental health and wellbeing in accordance with your own recovery goals.

CatholicCare Central Queensland

CentacareCQ is the longest running, not-for-profit local social services organisation in Central Queensland, providing professional community services for over 40 years. With more than 200 staff and dedicated volunteers, we are a large, vibrant and well-respected community organisation.

We work to encourage and strengthen individuals, couples and families through our broad range of services, which include aged care and disability support, counselling, and family and community support and education. CentacareCQ serves all people, without regard to religion, race, age, economic circumstance or ethnic background.

Our reach extends from Mackay in the north, to Bundaberg in the south, and out to the Central West. While we have seven office sites across the region, staff travel far and wide to deliver services, offering outreach programs in many small townships.

CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning

CatholicCare is a not for profit organization offering Early Intervention services, Counselling & other support programs. The Taree & Forster Community Kitchens provide nutritious meals to vulnerable people in the community Mondays to Fridays. We provide a safe space where people feel accepted and respected - without judgement. The service supports people experiencing financial hardship, homelessness, mental illness, physical or intellectual disability, substance abuse and those who are socially isolated. For many, our service has become an anchor - something they can rely upon in these uncertain times.
We also collaborate with services such as Orange Sky Mobile Laundry Service, Backpack beds for the Homeless and other local services with whom we collaborate to achieve the best positive outcomes for the People we support.
CatholicCare also provides emergency food parcels through our Community Care Pantry - the contents of which rely solely upon donations from the wider community.

Domestic and family violence

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

 

Homelessness

If you’re experiencing or at risk of homelessness, you can find homeless shelters near you by searching on the Ask Izzy website.

Your state or territory government can also help. Listed below are the options by state or territory.

 

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in daanger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

For First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

For people living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

For refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

For people struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.
